Second semester has begun again

Dear: Sir, friends and humanitarians

Hello from China! I have not be back to the blog for such long time, i am so sorry about this. Today i would like to let you know on what i have been doing at recently from summer school break until this day.      

School summer break 10^th July-26^th August 2011

One semester has been ended on the date 10^th July 2011 then i returned to home Muang Sing Northern Laos for visit my parent. I spent there for 2 weeks with my parent and i sometimes helped them for taking care rice and rubber tree fields. Stay at home is quiet lack of self’s study due to many things that need to give help for parent and relatives and i did not very have personal time for study and i knew that my goal is to study Chinese as much as i can. Anyway family’s work also important that i should not ignore but that is priority of my parent. And me i have to focus on my study.      

 Then i came back to China again and i did intern for China Xipshungbanna Tropical Botany Garden, there is one of my Chinese friend working for this garden. This garden belongs to China Ministry of Education. I was there for helping my friend for doing research about tea plantation of the mountainous community. I took this opportunity for practice Chinese with his college. I learnt some Chinese from them and i also learnt that how Chinese working in this garden.

I was there until 25^th August 2011 then i returned to University for study again

Second semester has begun again 1^st September 2011.  

Lately evening of 26^th August i arrived Yunnan University. Next day morning i completed study registration, accommodation and apply for visa. This semester i did not face any problem regarding preparation.

Second semester has officially opened in the first date of September. I still attend the Chinese language in second level. This level is quiet a little bit difficult due to more Chinese character sentence increased and also very grammar. And I go to School everyday and bring daily homework back to home and I often do homework until midnight and get up early for morning class.

I am delegating my self for study as much as possible along on my glad opportunity and i promise that i will use financial supported and time for appropriately. I promise promise promise!!!! And i may thanks to all of you who gave me financial support. And I would like to let you know that i am using them appropriately.

I am doing good in everyday and also still healthy.

Bounsing ist in China, warum schreibt er nicht mehr?

Liebe Freunde von  und Spender für Bounsing!

Hier meldet sich nun Jörn, der eigentlich nicht als Autor, sondern nur als Übersetzer in diesem Internet-Tagebuch auftreten wollte.

Seit  Februar 2011 ist Sing bereits and der Universität in Kunming und hat dort seinen Chinesisch-Unterricht aufgenommen. Hier allerdings gibt es von ihm keine Nachrichten mehr seit er in China ist.

Die Chinesische Regierung hat den Zugang zu diesem Anbieter von Blogs gesperrt und so kann Sing seine Berichte nicht mehr direkt einstellen.

Aus seinen Emails an uns will ich seine Erlebnisse und Erfahrungen der ersten paar Monate nach und nach hier aufschreiben, Fotos schickt er uns auch.

Wenn Ihr also hier länger nichts mehr von Bounsing gelesen habt, so liegt da nicht an ihm, sondern an mir und ich setze mich bald auf den Hosenboden und versorge euch mit nachgeholten und frischen Neuigkeiten, denn Ihr habt es verdient!

Die ersten Monate waren stellenweise gar nicht so einfach, aber inzwischen hat Sing sich gut eingelebt und fühlt sich wohl.

Reflection from Oxfam International Youth Partnership conference which held at New Delhi India 20th-30th November 2010

10 days exchanged from Oxfam International Youth Partnership Conference 

During 10 days with Oxfam International Youth Partnership conference i met hugely young people from countries around the world, some of them are students came from different faculty of Universities and some of them are working for community development, media, campaigner, environmental and human rights defender...

From those 10days i had very great opportunities to talk, exchange work experiences, hearing different global problems, reasons caused and solution methods that young people are implementing in their community. And very important i also took this chance to build global networking through sharing personal profile to each other and oral greeting. But sharing my personal profile was absolutely related to Mekong school where i spent half year in 2009 with Mekong friends and international teachers. Those times in Mekong school made me sensed about different problems, major reasons and solutions that some people are doing in their community which similarly to what Oxfam International Youth Partnership organized.         

Being in system of training for trainer is very important as tools for disseminate lessons learnt for social positive change. I think Mekong school is very appropriate college to share my lesson learnt. So i came to Mekong school with 4 of my lessons learnt below:        

1.    Human Rights

2.    Climate change and resilient to livelihood

3.    Hearing method

4.    Blogging across border

Lastly i may thanks very much to teacher Sabrina and Kelsey (previous volunteer 2009) both of them provided me information of Oxfam International Youth Partnership and gave me very closed advised during my application process and preparation. Never forget my thanks also go to Mekong school especially to alumni program that supported me my domestic transportation and medical treatment.

Dear: friends and humanitarians

Finally my time to India for attend the Oxfam International Youth Partnership conference has come true. I arrived India last 20^th November with safety. I met many youth people from around the world who brought different stories and work experiences in term of community development. I heard many stories, problems and solution that those youth people are doing in their community. This event made me deeply understood on positive change from community around the world. Many of them are caring on human rights equality, healthy environment and social justice as well as i am. 

However i would bring all those experiences learnt to share or advocate for my community in Laos in order to guide them understand on how people are connected with each other in our world, how healthy environment and justice are important for human and country development.

The time for harvest rice

Dear: friends and Humanitarians

Finally the winter season is coming now in Muang Sing Northern Laos. This winter season is telling us that the rice harvest season is also coming together with winter season.

Nowadays farmer in my hometown are very busying for harvesting rice including my parent and me. We have to get up very early morning for working hard in the rice field and come back home evening very lately.

This year the rice demand is increasing in my hometown including the whole country in Laos but the rice supply is decreasing due to lack of land for rice production because of land concession by foreigner investor particular Chinese people. That’s why the price of rice is increasing that cause happiness to some farmers and sadness to some farmers who lack of land. However selling labor as a daily worker for private company is main solution for farmers who lack of land. It seems no many solution option for those farmers because they are not person who decide for their life, the concern government decided for their living life condition but mostly the decision was giving private benefit for some officials involved.

It seems the rice harvest is going to complete during November 2010.

(Reis-)Erntezeit

Liebe Freunde und Spender,
nun kommt endlich die "Winterzeit" nach Muang Sing in Nord-Laos. Winterzeit bedeutet hier auch, daß die Zeit der Reisernte bevorsteht.
Genauso wie die anderen Bauern meines Heimatdorfes sind meine Eltern und ich mit der Reisernte beschäftigt. Von morgens früh bis abends spät dauert ein harter Arbeitstag auf dem Reisfeld.

In meinem Heimatdorf -wie im ganzen Land- steigt die Nachfrage nach dem Grundnahrungsmittel Reis auch dieses Jahr. Das zum Anbau zur Verfügung stehende Land wird jedoch immer geringer, da viele Landbesitzer ihr Land an an ausländische Investoren verpachten, dabei insbesondere an Chinesen.
Der Reispreis steigt somit.
Für einige Bauern ist das gut, für andere (diejenigen mit wenig Land, die sich nicht slebst versorgen können) ist das schlecht. Sie verkaufen ihre Arbeitskraft dann als Tagelöhner an Privatfirmen.
Diese Menschen haben keine große Wahl und über ihr Leben bestimmen sie nicht mehr selbst, sondern eine Firmenleitung. Und die entscheidet meistens zum Vorteil von einigen Amtsträgern, die in irgendeiner Weise beteiligt sind.

Die Reisernte wird wahrscheinlich im November 2010 abgeschlossen sein.

Returned home Muang Sing in the northern Laos

Dear: Humanitarians and friends

Unfortunately i could not stay with AAR Japan in Xiengkhoung province until the end of my contract due to diver problems including working atmosphere and high daily life’s expenditure. i decided to return home with warmly welcome back by my parent. It was more than a week that i arrived home, after left from AAR Japan i immediate heading to Vientiane for complete visa application to India next month 21-29 November 2010. It is finished now  

My objective to India is to attend the Oxfam International Youth Partnership Training Conference for 8 days. And this training conference will give supportive for my skill, experience for create positive change in my community and worlds. I was selected by Oxfam International Youth Partnership program as a representative of Lao Youth. I will have good opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with other youth people who are care working for community from more than 70 countries.

I am now waiting for the consequence of my fundraising letter that i sent last 2 days to Mekong School in Thailand. This letter is to help me for fundraising for my domestic travel to International airport (Vientiane airport) because the Oxfam International Youth Partnership program takes responsible only International travel.

I am still healthy and smile

Rückkehr nach Muang Sing in Laos

Liebe Freunde und Unterstützer!

Leider konnte ich nicht bis zum Ende meines Arbeitsvertrages mit der NGO AAR-Japan in der Provinz Xiengkhoung bleiben. Dafür gab es verschiedene Gründe, unter anderem eine sehr unfreundliche Arbeitsatmosphäre und hohe Kosten für meinen Lebensunterhalt dort.

So habe ich mich entschieden mit AAR-Japan nicht weiter zusammen zu arbeiten und nach Hause zurückzufahren. Dort wurde ich von meinen Eltern herzlich wilkommen geheißen.

Eine Woche nach meiner Rückkehr (nach Muang Sing) bin ich sofort nach Vientiane (in die Hauptstadt) gereist, um dort meinen Antrag auf ein Visum für eine Reise nach Indien (21. bis 29. November 2010) zu vervollständigen. Das Visum habe ich nun.

Nach Indien fahre ich, um dort an einer internationalen Konferenz der Organisation Oxfam teilzunehmen, auf der junge Leute ihre Arbeitserfahrungen (in Bereichen wie  Dorfentwicklung, nachhaltige Entwicklung, Menschenrechtsarbeit, etc. ...) untereinander austauschen können. Hier werde ich Erfahrungen sammeln und etwas dazulernen können, um mein Heimatdorf und die Welt zum besseren zu verändern.

Von Oxfam wurde ich als Vertreter der laotischen Jugend ausgewählt. Ich erwarte dort andere junge Leute aus über 70 Ländern zu treffen, die auch in der Gemeindeentwicklung arbeiten und mit denen ich Ideen austauschen kann.

Zur Zeit warte ich auf die Beantwortung meines Antrages auf Reiskostenhilfe das ich vor zwei Tagen an die Mekong-School in Thailand geschickt habe. Wenn es klappt, übernimmt diese Schule meine Reiskosten bis zum Flughafen, denn Oxfam deckt nur meine internationalen Reiskosten.

Ich bin gesund und ich habe ein Lächeln im Gesicht,

Transferred to project site (Xiengkhoung Province)

Dear: friends and humanitarians

After worked in Vientiane for couple weeks I finally transferred to the project site in Xiengkhoung Province last 15^th September. It was good experience that i learnt from this new project particular how dealing with provincial government partner for setting up new project which would be very valuable lesson for my future especially how to prepare for setting up new project

The daily living condition here is not easy since i have to manage by myself for accommodation and food. The money is become very in fluency in the all society and people are busying for make money and free smile of people are getting less. Industries and natural resources are being extracting in the rural areas which mostly bring negative impacts to the local people          

However i will take this opportunity to learn how people living and including varieties cultures in Xiengkhoung Province

Umzug zum Projektort in der Provinz Xiengkhoung

Liebe Freunde und Unterstützer!

Nach einigen Wochen Arbeit in der Hauptstadt Vientiane bin ich am 15. September am Einsatzort des Projektes in der Provinz Xiengkhoung angekommen.

Meine bisherigen Erfahrungen waren gut, insbesondere die Einblicke in die Zusammenarbeit mit einer Provinzregierung bei der Vorbereitung eines neuen Projektes halte ich für wertvoll für meine Zukunft.


Der Alltag hier gestaltet sich nicht einfach, um Unterkunft und Verpflegung muß ich mich selber kümmern. Das Geld verliert an Wert und zunehmend sind die Leute nur noch daran interessiert Geld zu verdienen.
Ein Lächeln um des Lächelns wegen wird seltener!
Eine wachsende Industrie verbraucht zunehmend natürliche Ressourcen im ländlichen Raum und das hat oft negative Auswirkungen auf die Bevölkerung.


Wie dem auch sei, ich werde diese Gelegenheit nutzen, um zu lernen wie die Menschen der verschiedenen Volksgruppen in der Provinz Xiengkhoung leben.
